Class Policies

Our class policies are here to make sure everyone has a great pottery experience!

Enrolment in a class is acceptance of these terms in full. Please read.

  • If you do not come to the class you have registered for we cannot provide a refund or alternative class time for you. Please let your instructor know to keep your work wrapped for the following week.

Studio Policy:

  • Students and members are responsible for their own safety at the studio. This includes the use of materials, tools and equipment, as well as being aware of what is happening in and around the studio. Pottery involves the use of potentially hazardous materials and equipment. Please follow all safety instructions provided by our instructors and staff.

  • Wheels and your wheel area must be wiped down and left clean and ready for the next members and students. Please return cleaned tools, clay and materials to their proper location. Clean-up of work areas should be done with a wet sponge twice. Be aware of floors that may be slippery after mopping or spilled water. Leaving the studio unclean will result in a written warning and then possible cancellation of your class participation. Class fee will not be returned.

  • Students and members are not to operate machinery which you have not been trained or assigned (pug mill, kilns, any other equipment that you are unfamiliar with). No outside clay, glazes or ceramics materials may be brought into or used in the studio without specific approval.

  • If we unavoidably cancel a class or workshop due to illness or bad weather, we will do our best to accommodate everyone when we reschedule.

  • If you cancel your 8-week course 10 days or more before the first class starts, 100% credit goes towards a future course. Classes cancelled with less than 10 days notice you will forfeit your payment.

  • Classes are for those 18 years old and older at the time of class start. Students who enrol under the age of 18 will not be permitted to use the studio and will not be refunded.

  • Classes (and often demonstrations) begin at the start of the class, so please arrive on time or even a few minutes early so that you don’t miss anything.

  • Dress appropriately. Aprons will be provided, but you will still get dirty (including your shoes).

  • Long hair (past shoulders) must be tied back when operating machines with moving parts. Closed toed shoes are required, no sandals in the studio. Jewelry and expensive items should be left at home to avoid damage or loss.

  • Pottery will be fired and ready to be picked up within 3 weeks of the final class. Wheelhouse will contact everyone via email once pottery is fired and ready for pickup.  We can’t be responsible for pieces not picked up for over 1 month after the pickup notification. After 2 months pieces will be discarded or added to the “free pottery” box and may find homes elsewhere.

  • The class fee is for the instructional experience and use of tools and materials, not the finished product. Pottery is an artistic activity with natural variation leading to factors beyond the control of the instructor and the studio that may affect the appearance and quality of the final product.

  • Any leftover unfired clay must be left at the studio at the end of your session and will be reclaimed and repurposed.
